Welcome to NHS of Richland County's NeighborWorksÒ HomeOwnership Center web page! Our HomeOwnership Center opened on May 2, 2003.
This HomeOwnership Center will help unlock home ownership
opportunities for Richland County’s low– and moderate-income buyers and
provide valuable rehabilitation assistance to current homeowners.
NHS’s NeighborWorksÒ HomeOwnership Center, located in the basement of the Park Hotel Senior Citizen Apartments at 213 S. Central Ave, in downtown Richland Center, WI, provides access under one roof to a wide range of services and training that will help customers find, purchase, rehabilitate, insure, and maintain their homes. Richland County’s NeighborWorksÒ HomeOwnership Center is one of seventy home-ownership centers being established through a nationwide pilot project of the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation and the national NeighborWorksÒ network. The NHS Home Ownership Center (HOC) is a partnership that includes local government, area lenders, the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation, and Insurance Company contributors.
Services to be provided at the new HomeOwnership Center include:
þ Homebuyer education courses and seminars;
þ Individualized pre-purchase counseling (including repairing or establishing credit and other topics);
þ Assistance with the Home Inspection Process;
þ Information about affordable first-mortgage financing;
þ NHS Down Payment and Closing Cost Assistance loans;
þ Information about how to find a realtor and how to buy homeowners’ insurance;
þ Contractor referral and construction monitoring;
þ Workshops on home maintenance and repairs; and
þ Post-purchase counseling including budget and credit management, delinquency-prevention strategies, and foreclosure prevention.
